A Grand Prize from Grand Marnier

Congratulations to The Cascade Room's Dale Styner who yesterday won himself an all expenses paid, 4 day trip to the City of Lights, Paris.

Dale's creation, "Le Grand Ponte" took out the top prize in the Grand Marnier Cocktail Competition, hosted by the Canadian Professional Bartenders Association, beating out some stiff competition from a slew of Vancouver's best known bars.

Not a bad way to start off the working week! Well done Dale.

Kayak For A Cure

Thanks to everyone who came out and supported us in "Kayak For A Cure". The event was all about participation and raising awareness, and Vancouver turned on a beautiful, sunny Sunday morning to get everyone in the spirit.

We were proud to be a part of "Team Ernie", along with our friends at Lark and We Are Local and are extremely thankful for the generous donations made through the sale of Main Street Beer at El Camino's, Habit Lounge, The Union, The Cascade Room and Portland Craft.

Thanks to everyone who came out and supported us at Saturday's "Smoking Sausage BBQ Cook Off".  Presented by The Mount Pleasant Business Association, local restaurants crafted their own sausages, with the expertise of sausage master Drews of D-Original Sausage Company.

Thanks to everyone who voted for the sausage created by our very own chef, Travis Williams.

Congratulations to everyone who was part of such a fun afternoon. All money raised was donated to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.

Euro 2012 - Spain Continues To Reign

Congratulations Spain on Euro 2012 but let's face it, we would've been happier if England had won.

For us the Highlight of Euro 2012 was Spain v Portugal - Nice one Ronaldo. Our friend's over at Pitch Talk summed it up along these lines, "John Terry gate crashes every party, but Ronaldo didn't get there 'til the party's all over".

EURO 2012 kicks off on June 8 and we'll have all (well, almost all) of the action LIVE on the big screen starting with the Russia v Czech Republic game at 11:30am Friday morning.

There'll be food and drink specials during the games so spread the word and get ready for a some long lunches in the upcoming weeks!

Drink of the Week - The Cascade Room ‘Hemingway Daiquiri’

This week’s Drink of the Week is a ‘Hemingway Daiquiri’ that we tasted over at The Cascade Room on Main Street. Just a short walk from Broadway, the Cascade Room has become a hip and happening neighbourhood hub. The Cascade Room has an aggressive cocktail program led by Nick Devine who brings experience from San Francisco and London. We were certainly impressed with the cocktail list and decided on the 'Old School Classic' Hemingway Daiquiri, recommended by one of the servers. If you’re ever in the area we definitely recommend checking in at this spot!

The Hemingway Daiquiri is a heavy measure of Cuban white rum shaken with hand pressed lime, fresh ping grapefruit juice and a dash of maraschino liquer.
